Friday 9/14/18, 8:30am-12:30pm
Offsite Tour, 15 Participants, $45
Michael Hagedorn opens his garden for a guided tour and offers seasonal tips on tree management, using examples from trees featured on his blog crataegus.com. In a studio setting that mirrors the urban bonsai nurseries of Japan, trees in many stages of development range from traditional species like Black Pine and Chojubai Quince to Northwest natives like Mountain Hemlock and Vine maple. The tour will compare and contrast techniques for trees native to both sides of the Pacific. Meet in the south parking lot of the Milwaukie Center for departure at 8:30am. Expect to have about 3 1/2 hours in the garden and return to the Center around 12:30. There could be up to 35 people in the garden due to the added tour but the staff and garden are capable and ready to accommodate all who come.
